Teaching STEM through a Social Justice Lens • STEM Education Hour

Dr. Che Smith (MAT/CSC) shares lessons learned from preparing and teaching two STEM + JEC courses (CSC 110: Data Science and Society; MAT 105: Introduction to Statistics). We will discuss ways to incorporate JEC content seamlessly in STEM courses, particularly using real datasets and tools such as RStudio to achieve data literacy, collaborative computing, and inquiry-based learning to foster discussions of topics related to justice, equality, and community.
