What Did I See to be Except Myself? Sharing Stories and Widening the Pathways through Chemistry and STEM

February 11, 2019 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Through the Faculty of the Future Initiative and the HHMI Inclusive Excellence project (FIRST), Davidson College will be hosting three dynamic and inspirational individuals for a two-day event on February 11thand 12th.  Specifically, on February 11th at 4:30 PM, these visitors will join in a round table discussion with me at the BSC House to talk about their experience in STEM. We will focus on issues that underrepresented students face in STEM and examine the link between mentorship and student retention in STEM.  Dr. Raychelle Burks of St. Edward’s University (Houston, TX; @DrRubidium), Dr. Mary Crawford of Knox College (Galesburg, IL), and Maria Gallardo-Williams of NC State (Raleigh, NC; @TeachForALiving) each has a story to tell.  We hope our visitors’ stories resonate with you and encourage us all to move towards our goal of a fully inclusive community.  For more information, contact Mitch Antsey (miantsey@davidson.edu).
