FIRST Action Team<\/a>\u00a0students recommended a new faculty development program in partnership with FIRST and the CTL modeled after the successful\u00a0SaLT program at Bryn Mawr<\/a>.\u00a0 Davidson\u2019s adaptation, MILE: More Inclusive Learning Environments, is being piloted in PHY125 in Fall 2019.\u00a0 The MILE pilot will expand to four Spring 2020 NS&M courses.<\/p>\n Starting 11.19.19 FIRST will be actively recruiting students with interest in participating in MILE in Spring 2020 as student partners.<\/p>\n In brief, MILE is a fully voluntary and non-evaluative semester-long partnership that occurs between a faculty member and a student who is not enrolled in the course yet attends class\/lab regularly.\u00a0 The pair meet weekly to discuss student experiences in the course with the shared goal of improving the learning environment for current and\/or future students.\u00a0 Importantly, MILE is a professional development opportunity shared between two partners who are each committed to improving STEM at Davidson.\u00a0 MILE is not<\/em> an evaluative situation. \u00a0See this link<\/a> for additional information on MILE expectations, stipend, structure, application, and schedule.<\/p>\n
